OUR MISSION

The Student Council aims to bring new and exciting experiences to the student body. We strive to refine, revamp, and introduce new operations for you to experience. One of the steps towards fulfilling this goal is introducing our official Student Council website. We hope that students at John Knox can use this platform as a centralized hub to build community and to receive the latest updates on upcoming Student Council events and activities.

Who we Are

The student council is a group of dedicated and determined leaders, who are passionate about providing a memorable and exciting school experience for all students at John Knox. The council consists of five executive members, Class Representatives, and our teacher sponsor, Mr Bennett.

Team Leader

The Team Leader plays a crucial leadership role within the council. Elected by the student body, the Team Leader sets the agenda, plans goals, addresses needs, concerns, and interests in the school community, and does this while leading the student council in a diligent way. They are a representative for the school and collaborates with their council members to oversee the committee and act as a liaison between students and the school administrators.

Vice Team Leader

The Vice Team Leader is a vital supporting position in the student council. This person is tasked with assisting and leading the student council along with the Team Leader, while contributing and collaborating with other students to make goals meet. In the absence of the Team Leader, the Vice Team Leader will assume the leadership role, while continuing to ensure the smooth functioning of the council.

Treasurer

Responsible for budgeting, fundraising, and record-keeping, the Treasurer holds a crucial role in Student Council finances. They maintain accurate and organized financial records while providing insight on how to approach all things money for the future of the committee. In addition to these responsibilities, the Treasurer contributes greatly to the overall planning of the school year and delegates decisions along with their other executive members.

Media Coordinator

Creating advertisements, planning decorations, and making key media decisions, the Media Coordinator plays a vital role in branching out the Student Council to all students. They have an important role in giving out information, fostering school spirit, and entertaining students of our high school. In addition to these responsibilities, the Secretary contributes greatly to the overall planning of the school year and delegates decisions along with their other executive members.

Secretary

The Secretary is a pivotal member of the student council, and is responsible for facilitating effective communication within and outside the council. They have administrative responsibilities including recording meeting minutes, sending emails, gathering feedback from students and administration, and summarizing important topics for the student council. In addition to these responsibilities, the Secretary contributes greatly to the overall planning of the school year and delegates decisions along with their other executive members.

Student Representatives

Student Representatives play important roles as the voice of their peers. Elected by their respective classes or student groups, these representatives convery the interests, concerns, and opinions of their constituents to the larger student council. They promote student council events, promote class engagement, gather feedback, and advocate for their respective classes.
